Abstract: Objective To analyze characteristic ultrasonographic changes in senile cataract. Methods Ultrasonographic images of 106 senile cataract cases were analyzed by Retrospective analysis. Results The category of senile cataract in 106 cases, cortical cataract 145 eyes (68.4%)and the appearance in ultrasound was ring-halo like or girdle-shaped hyperechoic in lens cortex and spindle-shaped hypoechoic in lens nucleus.Nuclear type cataract 48 eyes(22.6%), B-scan showed hyperechoic in lens nucleus and echo waning from lens nucleus to cortex. Mixed type cataract 19 eyes(9.0%), B-scan showed diffused dotted or clot-like hyperechoic in entire lens. Conclusion B-scan is simple, noninvasive, high diagnostic, and has clear visual images. It is convenient to screen cataract and compare preoperation and post-operation, so it is worthy of attention and application in clinic.
