Abstract: Objective:To explore the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on improving adverse reactions and quality of life in patients with primary liver cancer treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE).Methods:A total of 94 patients with primary liver cancer who received TACE in Xinxiang Central Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were selected as the study subjects and were divided into observation group( n=47)and control group( n=47)by the random number table method. The patients in the control group were given physical cooling, liver protection, fluid support, and other symptomatic treatments after TACE,whereas the patients in the observation group were treated with hyperbaric oxygen on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The incidences of adverse reactions such as fever, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, liver function damage, and bone marrow suppression were analyzed and compared between the two groups, and the quality of life(Karnofsky Performance Status score)before and after surgery was compared between the two groups. Results:During hospital stay, the average numbers of day of abdominal pain and abdominal distension in the observation group were significantly smaller than those in the control group with statistical differences( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),red blood cell(RBC),white blood cell(WBC),and platelet(PLT)levels, and Karnofsky Performance Status score between the two groups before surgery( P>0.05). Three, seven, and fourteen days after surgery,ALT and AST levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group;whereas RBC,WBC,and PLT levels, and Karnofsky Performance Status score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, all with statistically significant differences( P<0.05). Conclusion:Hyperbaric oxygen therapy combined with TACE in patients with primary liver cancer can reduce abdominal pain, abdominal distension, liver function damage, and bone marrow suppression and improve the quality of life of patients.
