Abstract: Objective:To compare the detection rates of ametropia in special duty personnel of different occupations, so as to provide a reference for prevention and treatment. Methods:A total of 2 394 special duty personnel were divided into 4 groups according to their occupations: pilot, air combat service personnel, submariner and diver, and warship crewmember. Then the detection rates of ametropia among the groups were analyzed. Results:The detection rate of ametropia in 2 394 special duty personnel was 8.98% (215/2 394). The detection rate of ametropia in the air service personnel (4.37%) was lower than that in the sea service personnel (31.68%). The difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01). The incidence of ametropia in the warship crewmembers was the highest (37.50%), while that of the pilots was the lowest (1.85%). The differences between them and those of the air combat service personnel and submariners and divers were statistically significant ( P<0.05, or P<0.01). Conclusion:The incidence of ametropia in sea service personnel is not optimistic, and it is necessary to attach greater importance to vision care of sea service personnel.
