Abstract: Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of pranoprofen eye drops combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops (artificial tears) on pilots with dry eye syndrome. Methods:A total of 30 pilots with dry eye syndrome admitted into the Qingdao Rehabilitation Center for CPLA Navy Special Services between May 2017 and May 2018 were studied and randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, each with 30 cases (60 eyes). The control group was treated with sodium hyaluronate only; while the treatment group was given pranoprofen eye drops combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops. Every patient was required to complete a questionnaire on dry eye; and all of them took an examination by a German oculus keratograph to measure their breakup time of tear film (BUT), tear meniscus height (TMH), corneal fluorescent staining (FL), and redness-scan (R-Scan) scores before and after the treatment. Results:After 2 weeks of treatment, the BUT and TMH of both groups were increased ( P<0.05). Those of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group ( P<0.05). Before the treatment, the FL of both groups had varying degrees of corneal pigmentation, and the staining was positive. After 2 weeks of treatment, the staining became negative. The R-scan scores of both groups were lower than those before the treatment ( P<0.05), and the R-Scan score the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group ( P<0.05). According to the dry eye questionnaire, comparing the section of zero point, the scores of both groups decreased after the treatment. There was a greater decrease in the treatment group, and the differences between groups were statistically significant ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Pranoprofen eye drops combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops can more effectively corneal injury, increase tear secretion, and relieve eye inflammation, hence increase tear secretion and improve qualities of working and life.
