Abstract: Bim is a proapoptotic BH3-domain-only member of the Bcl-2 family, which is widely distributed in muhicellular organisms and has distinct potency in promoting death, oncogenesis, the homeostasis of hematopoietic cell and autoimmunity. As a strong mediator of apoptosis, its expression and functional regulation are various in different kinds of cells. The induction of Bim is essential for apoptosis triggered by EGFR kinase inhibitors in mutant EGFR-dependent lung adenocarcinomas.Bim also plays an important role in the mechanisms underlying glucocorticoid resistance in leukemic cells. And using the expression vector of Bim to transfect tumor cells may become a new way in tumor gene therapy.
