Abstract: Survivin is a recently discovered anti-apoptosis gene as a new member in the family of inhibitor of apoptosis proteins. Survivin has no expression in normal tissue, while it has high expression in human tumor tissue. Its function is very complicated and it can directly or indirectly inhibit cell apoptosis. Sp1 is one member of Sp1-like/KLF family, which is ubiquitously expressed in many kinds of tissues and participates in transcriptional regulation of many genes. It plays an important role in the correct expression of many housekeeping,tissue-specific and viral genes. This article reviews the progression of Sp1 and Survivin in recent years.
