Abstract: Improving the standardized prevention rate of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is one of the national health care quality and safety improvement goals for 2022. The incidence of cancer-related VTE is significantly higher than that of non-cancer-related VTE, and there is currently a gap in domestic guidelines for perioperative VTE prevention in thoracic malignancies. China Embolism-thrombosis after Surgery of Thorax (ChEST) Study Group has taken the lead in formulating this guideline which adopts the Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development Evaluation approach for evidence-based assessment and a content-oriented chapter structure. It is hoped by ChEST Study Group that the promulgation of this guideline will help improve the comprehensive knowledge of prevention and management of perioperative VTE in thoracic malignancies and further standardize the diagnosis and treatment of VTE among thoracic surgeons.
