Abstract: To the editor:Frameless stereotactic aspiration and thrombolysis (FSAT) is appropriate for treating deep-seated brain hematoma such as thalamic haemorrhage (TH).1 We performed FSAT to determine the efficacy and safety of this method for treating moderate TH (hematoma volume of 10-30 ml). From December 2006 to November 2011,a total of 75 consecutive moderate TH patients were enrolled in this study. These patients were non-randomly assigned to two groups, the FSAT group and the conservative group, according to the preference of physicians or patients. The study protocol was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. The final analysis included 27 patients in the FSAT group and 48 patients in conservative group.
