Abstract: AIM:To investigate the reIation between vision function index and faIIs-reIated factors in patients with age-reIated cataract. METHODS: Ninety - six patients with age - reIated cataract were interviewed using a seven- item visuaI function questionnaire (VF-7), then cIassified into poor, moderate, or good visuaI function group. The differences of the three groups on visuaI acuity, baIance and mobiIity function, cognition, depressive symptoms, seIf-reported fear of faIIing were anaIyzed. RESULTS:The patients in poor visuaI function group had oIder age, tendency to depression, was more afraid of faIIing, compared with groups with higher score in VF-7, and they had worse visuaI acuity, performed worse on aII baIance and mobiIity tests. CONCLUSION:Poor visuaI function is reIated to worse visuaI acuity, weaker baIance and mobiIity performance in patients with age-reIated cataract. The VF-7, as a simpIe and convenient seIf-reported method, can be used as a faIIing risk monitoring in patients with age-reIated cataract.
