Abstract: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a double-stranded DNA virus. Some HPV subtypes can specifically infect the skin and mucous membranes of the anogenital region, and induce a spectrum of epithelial proliferative diseases ranging from benign warts to intraepithelial neoplasms. It is now recognized that persistent cervical infection with high risk HPV subtypes is a prerequisite for the occurrence of cervical cancer. The treatment of HPV infection mainly includes prophylactic vaccines, microbicides, topical immunomodulators, therapeutic vaccines, etc. This paper presents recent progress in the treatment of HPV infection.
