Abstract: In the past,psoriasis was regarded as a chronic inflammatory disease limited to the skin.However,many current researches have shown that psoriasis patients,compared with the general population,are associated with a higher incidence of and risks for some other diseases,such as metabolic syndrome,obesity,cardiovascular diseases,arthritis,autoimmune diseases,malignancies,mental illnesses,liver diseases,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),sleep apnea syndrome,etc.Immune-mediated mechanism seems to be the common causes of these comorbidities.Nevertheless,efficient collaboration among researchers across multiple disciplines is required to disclose the true pathogenesis of and develop effective treatments for these comorbidities.This article focuses on the epidemiology,mechanism and treatment of psoriasis comorbidities.
