Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided acupuncture at Baliao point combined with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture in the treatment of urinary incontinence after stroke. Methods A total of 60 patients with urinary incon-tinence after stroke were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. The pa-tients in the experimental group received Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture combined with ultrasound-guided acupuncture at Baliao point, while those in the control group received Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture combined with traditional acupuncture at Baliao point, once a day for 6 days a week, and each course of treatment was four weeks. The international consultation on incontinence questionnaire-short form(ICI-Q-SF)was used to evaluate urine leakage and micturition frequency, and voiding diary was used to observe the number of urinary incontinence episodes and micturition frequency in the daytime and nighttime.Clinical outcome was assessed based on the reduction rate of ICI-Q-SF score after treatment. Results After treatment, both groups had signifi-cant reductions in ICI-Q-SF score as well as the micturition frequency and number of urinary incontinence episodes in the day-time and nighttime(P<0.05),and the experimental group had significantly greater reductions in the above indicators than the control group(P<0.05).The experimental group had a significantly better clinical outcome based on ICI-Q-SF score than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound guidance helps to locate Baliao point and improve the efficacy of acupuncture at Baliao point combined with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture in the treatment of urinary incontinence after stroke.
