Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology is sponsored by Chinese Medical Association (CMA) with the responsible institution being China Association for Science and Technology. The journal published its first issue in March 1981 as quarterly publication. In the intervening years, its publication grew from quarterly to bimonthly in 1985, then to monthly in 1995, making it the most authoritative and largest journal in our specialty all over the country. Its columns include editorial views, continuing education, anesthesia for cardiovascular surgery, airway management, neurosurgical anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, anesthesia for transplantation, general anesthesia, monitoring, local anesthesia, pain management and research, critical care medicine, volume therapy, complication of anesthesia, case report, etc. The editorial department is located in the Medical Information Institute of Hebei Academy of Medical Sciences, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. The 84-member editorial board of distinguished clinicians and scientists all over the country and abroad. These individuals are assisted by almost 142 invited reviewers around the country. Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology was awarded “100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China 2006”. Its bibliographic information is included in the WPRIM (Western Pacific Region Index Medicus) database managed by WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific. It is widely regarded as the national preeminent scientific journal in the specialty. This is evidenced not just by its authority, but by its “Impact Factor”, a number which estimates the number of times the average journal article is quoted by other authors. It is also indexed as a national “core” journal by China Institute of Science and Technology Information, Literature Information Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University Library, Information Institute of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Library of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, PLA Medical Library, and every medical college or institute all over the country.
