Abstract: Objective To study the influences of nitrogen - oxygen mixed gas of 0.7 MPa pressure on the function of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) energic nerve in central nervous system. Methods By scintillation technique, the release and uptake of GABA in SK-N-SH nervous cell under the pressure of 0. 7 MPa nitrogen -oxygen mixed gas were examined, and the changes of its affinity to GABA receptors were examined too. By half quantity RT-PCR, the mRNA expression of GABA receptor was measured. Results Under the pressure of 0. 7 MPa nitrogen - oxygen mixed gas, the release of GABA in SK-N-SH nervous cell increased, but its uptake decreased. And its affinity to GABA receptor dropped. The mRNA expression of GABA receptor was not found to change. Conclusions Under 0. 7 MPa pressure of nitrogen-oxygen mixed gas, the function of GABAergic never in central nervous system is lessened.
