Abstract: Children and women in pregnancy or lactation have special physiological characteristics. For children with chronic urticaria, H1-receptor antagonists should be chosen based on patients' age and weight in addition to avoidance of possible triggers. Medication should be avoided in pregnant women with urticaria, however, H1-receptor antagonists may be administered after balancing the benefits for mothers and harms to foetus. Some H1-receptor antagonists can be secreted in breast milk, so cautions should be paid to the use of these drugs in women during lactation.
