Abstract: Objective To compare the therapeutic effect and toxicity of DVD and VAD regimen tor newly diagnosed multiple myeloma with renal failure. Methods Fifteen newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients with renal failure were treated with DVD regimen (VCR 2 mg and PLD 40 mg/m2 were administered as single dose on day 1,and dexamethasone 40 mg daily on day 1 to 4,28 days/cycle); 19 newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients with renal failure were treated with VAD regimen (VCR 0.5 mg and doxorubicin 10 mg/m2 were administered on day 1-4,and dexamethasone 40 mg daily on day 1-4,9-12,17-20,28 days/cycle).The therapeutic effect were investigated between both groups through the recovery of renal function and overall survive. Results Overall response rates (DVD,80.0 %; VAD,78.9 %,x2 =0.01,P >0.05) were similar between both groups, but compared with VAD group,DVD group recovered renal function quickly and have a tendency of better overall survive. Conclusion The DVD regimen had similar efficacy compared with traditional VAD.regimen and no significant difference in adverse reaction, but the DVD regimen achieves good response to the patients with renal failure.
