Research progress in relationship between tooth loss and Alzheimer′s disease

Abstract： Tooth loss is a common disease in the elderly, and periodontitis is the main cause of tooth loss. Alzheimer′s disease is a primary degenerative brain disease which etiology remains unknown. The patients often demonstrate cognitive impairment with characteristic neuropathological and neurochemical changes. The present article reviewed the relationship and associated mechanisms between tooth loss and Alzheimer′s disease.
