Abstract: Objective To evaluate the relationship between renal function and augmentation index (AI) in hypertension. Methods 478 patients were enrolled through health examination and all the patients received AI measurement, glomerular filtration rate ( eGFR) was estimate by serum creatinine. Regression equation was bulilt based on correlation analysis results. Results Patients'augmentation index varied with renal function(80. 47 ± 16. 22 vs 91. 23 ± 11. 36 vs 95. 77 ± 12. 13 ,P <0.01) AI correlated significantly and negatively with eGFR, decreased eGFR came with increased AI level ( β = - 0. 258, t = - 5. 843, P < 0.0001),and with the increase of AI, eGFR will decreased (β= -0.219,?= -4.793,P<0. 0001). A multiple regression analysis revealed that AI correlated independently with eGFR(β = -0. 188 ,t = -3. 331, P < 0. 05). Conclusions There was a stepwise increase in AI, corresponding to advances of the renal damage, the newly proposed eGFR is significantly associated with arterial stiffness,AI had good predictability for renal function in hypertensive patients.
