Abstract: Objective To investigate current status of physical exercise among residents in Gushan town of Fuzhou City. Methods Multistage cluster random sampling, face-to-face interview and self-report questionnaire of malignancy-related risk factors were used among 2412 participants (aged≥20 years) from 7 villages and communities in Gushan Town of Fuzhou City for physical exercise level and personal information. Results Almost 70% of the participants took regular exercises; however, 66.3% of them preferred only one kind. The most common exercises were walking,Tai Chi, and running. A lack of time had been the most important barrier to physical exercise. In logistic regression analysis, the relative factor of regular exercise was age. Conclusions Most residents could regularly take physical exercise, although the difference may be found between the population with different gender or age.
