Abstract: Objective:A questionnaire survey was conducted among clinical nurses practicing central venous catheter placement and maintenance in a Class Three Grade A military hospital in Shandong province,to study their awareness of the guidelines of prevention of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection(CLABSI)and its application.Methods:A total of 208 nurses practicing central venous catheters nursing from seven clinical departments of the Hospital were selected by convenience sampling method for the survey.Results:Among the respondents,nearly half(49.04%)of the clinical nurses engaged in central venous catheter placement,maintenance,and extubating had a low awareness of CLABSI and its preventive measures. The main issues affecting the implementation of clinical CLABSI prevention measures were high workload of nursing staff,lack of necessary equipment and facilities to reduce nosocomial infection,and lack of regular training related to CLABSI.Conclusion:Medical and health administrations should strengthen the relevant training of CLABSI prevention knowledge for central venous catheter nursing staff,reduce their workload,provide necessary nosocomial infection prevention and control equipment and facilities,and improve the quality of CLABSI-related training.
