Effect of hyperbaric oxygen combined with whole body vibration training on lower limb muscle strength of patients after surgery on knee joint cruciate ligament injury

Abstract: Objective:To investigate the effect of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO)combined with whole body vibration(WBV)training on lower limb muscle strength of patients after surgery on knee cruciate ligament injury.Methods:A total of 177 patients with knee cruciate ligament injury who received surgery in the First People’s Hospital of Shangqiu from May 2018 to May 2020 were selected as research subjects. According to the random number table method,they were divided into HBO + WBV group,HBO group,and WBV group,with 59 cases in each group. The peak torques of knee flexion and extensor muscle group,Lysholm knee score,visual analogue scale(VAS)score,and absolute trajectory error(ATE)were compared among the groups.Results:The repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the differences among time-point effects of peak torques of knee flexion and extensor muscle group in the three groups,and the differences between the time points and the between-group interaction effects of the three groups were all statistically significant( P<0.05),while the between-group effects among the three groups had no statistically significant difference( P>0.05). The differences among the three groups in terms of Lysholm knee score,VAS score,time-point effect of ATE,between-group effect,and the difference between time-points and between-group interaction effects were statistically significant( P<0.05). Post-hoc pairwise comparison showed that,before intervention,the three groups showed no significant difference in the peak torques of knee flexion and extensor muscle group( P>0.05);after intervention,the peak torques of knee flexion and extensor muscle group in the HBO + WBV group were higher than those of the HBO group and the WBV group( P<0.05);before surgery,the Lysholm knee scores,VAS scores,and ATEs of the three groups had no statistically significant difference( P>0.05);1,3,and 12 months after surgery,the Lysholm knee scores of the HBO + WBV group were higher than those of the other two groups,while the ATE of the HBO + WBV group was lower than those of the other two groups( P<0.05);1 and 2 weeks after the intervention,the VAS scores of the HBO + WBV group were lower than those of the other two groups( P<0.05). Conclusion:HBO combined with WBV can improve the muscle strength of the lower limbs of patients after surgery on knee cruciate ligament injury.
