Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of ganglioside combined with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on cognitive dysfunction and brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF) in patients with cerebral hemorrhage after surgery. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with cerebral hemorrhage hospitalized in the Neurology Department of the hospital from April 2014 to December 2018 were enrolled for the study, and were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, each consisting of 60 patients. The patients of the control group were given ganglioside treatment while the patients of the observation group received HBO therapy in addition to the treatment received by the control group. After 3 courses of treatment, changes in serum BDNF levels before and after treatment were compared between the 2 groups.Cognitive impairment was assessed by using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) Scale. The scores of neurological function was assessed by using the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Activities of Daily Life(ADL).Clinical curative effects were assessed in accordance with relevant criteria and adverse reactions were observed in the patients of the 2 groups. Results After 3 courses of treatment, the total efficacy rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The MMSE scores of the 2 groups after treatment were significantly increased,as compared with those before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were obviously higher than those of the control group, and statistical significance could be noted, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).After treatment, the NIHSS scores of the 2 groups all elevated as compared with the scores before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were obviously lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).Following treatment, the ADL scores of the 2 groups all elevated significantly as compared with the scores before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were obviously higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05).After treatment, serum BDNF levels of the 2 groups all increased as compared with those before treatment, and the levels of the observation group were obviously higher than those of the control group.Statistical significance could be seen, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups(P < 0.05).However,there was no statistical significance in the rate of adverse reactions, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups(P > 0.05).Conclusion HBO combined with ganglioside could effectively promote recovery of cognitive function of the patients with cerebral hemorrhage after surgery,in the meantime it could increase serum BDNF level, with good safety. For this reason,it is worth further clinical extension.
