Abstract: Objective To investigate and analyze knee joint injury among afloat and ashore personnel,so as to provide scientific basis for the development of effective prevention and control measures. Methods One hundred and twenty people were randomly chosen from the afloat and ashore personnel of a certain naval unit, and were divided into 2 groups. Then, investigations were made by using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Lysholm scale to evaluate their health status. Results With regard to the VAS scores,30.0 % of the afloat personnel had knee pain to various extents, and 17.5 % of the ashore personnel had knee pain.Statistical significance could be noted, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups (P < 0.05).As for the Lysholm scores, there were 78 afloat personnel with excellent scores, accounting for 65%,and there were 93 ashore personnel with excellent scores, accounting for 77.5%.Obvious differences could be noted in the scores between the 3 grades of "good","fair" and "poor",when comparisons were made between them. Conclusions Knee joint pain and functional disorder were prominent among the afloat personnel, and there were significant differences in them, when comparisons were made with those of the ashore personnel. With this reason, intervention measures should be adopted in accordance with their operational and training features.
