Abstract: Great changes have been made in the field of interventional cardiology from the time Andreas Gruentzig performed the first coronary angioplasty in 1977.For cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) directors, one of the challenges is management skill. This is something that is not taught in medical schools, residency or fellowship programs. There is more to being a CCL director than just being the best interventional cardiologist in a hospital.A CCL director is more of a manager in an information technology (IT) firm or a teacher in a technical school. At times, there is a need to lead by example and at times to lead by making changes in a protocol for physicians to follow.
