Abstract: INTRODUCTIONEver since there was human life, the frequency and impact of injuries are real challenges to survival and well-being.Attempts to heal injuries, whether severe or mild, have been major concerns and over time we have accumulated considerable experiences. All traditional medicines, whether European or Oriental, have extensive records of injury treatment and bone-setting.Such records are available in China, from as early as 1000 BC.The earliest Chinese Medicine Classic,Neijing, contains important principles related to injuries and their management.Different bones are given appropriate names, and functions of different tissues in the skeletal system,e.g.muscles,tendons,marrow etc.are described.1-3 Physiological functions,e.g.circulation and kidney activities, have also been discussed.Interestingly, kidney function has been linked to the activities of bones and joints.2
