Abstract: @@ To the editor: We have enjoyed reading an original article by Ji et al,1 entitled Influence of drug treatment on glucocorticoid receptor levels in patients with coronary heart disease, published in a recent issue of the Chinese Medical Journal. Herein, 80 patients with coronary artery disease were divided into four groups according to given drugs, and glucocorticoid (GC) receptor protein levels in peripheral blood lymphocytes were investigated before and I month after treatment in each group. In groups receiving beta blocker and nifedipine, increased levels were observed. They proposed that these increased levels might account for antiinflammatory effects of these drugs.
