Abstract: @@ Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystemic disease characterized by an autoimmune reaction.Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare but severe syndrome with the manifestations of fever, thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolysis, neurological symptoms, and renal involvement. The initial prognosis was reported to be dismal, 90% of patients dying within 3 months of onset. However, with the possibility of combined treatments, the survival rate has considerably improved. Data suggest a possible role of immune mechanisms in the development of TTP. 1,2We here report three cases of SLE complicated with TTP,and review the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of SLE with TTP.
