Abstract： Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST). Methods The Clinical data of 86 patients of GIST proved pathologically admitted from July 2000 to September 2015 at Department of surgery, the Second Traditional Medicine Hospital of Luoyang were analyzed retrospectively. Results The tumors originated respectively from the esophagus(n=2),stomach (n=43),duodenum(n=1),intestine(n=21),colon(n=5),rectum(n=2),pelvic cavity(n=6),peritoneum(n=6).Twenty-six cases of gastric and five cases of colon GIST were performed by laparoscopic lumpectomy.Fifty-five cases of GIST were performed by laparotomy.Six of them underwent palliative resection or biopsy because of extensive metastasis.Forty-nine cases were resected completely.There was no operative mortality.Sixty-three cases were followed-up.Recurrence and metastasis in ten patients,and eight of them were abdominal metastasis. Conclusion Surgical procedures is the first choice for treatment of GIST,imatinib mesylate targeted therapy can improve survival.
