Abstract： Objective To evaluate the effect of puerarin on insulin resistance (IR)in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods Fifty T2DM patients were selected and treated with puerarin and 30 healthy volunteers were selected as control group.The blood glucose and insulin levels were measured,and insulin sensitivity index was calculated before and after treatment.Results After the treatment for 2 weeks,the serum insulin levels were decreased significantly in T2DM patients after treatment (P＜0.05 ).Conclusion The puerarin has good effects on T2DM.It may decrease the serum insulin levels and improve insulin resistance in T2DM patients significantly.
