Abstract: Objective To observe the safety and efficiency in endovascular stenting for carotid artery stenosis. Methods 16 patients with carotid stenusis were treated with endovascular stenting from 2004 to 2006, all cases were confirmed by TCD or DSA. Results 16 stentim plantations were successful. None of the patients had a serious complication during the procedures. All the patients were followed up for 6 months. No new transient ischemia attack or stroke was found and color Doppler inspect show no restenosis happened. Conclusion Endovascular stenting is a safe and probably effective method in the treatment of carotid artery stenosis. The design of a randomized ,controlled trial for observing its efficacy and sideeffects is badly need.
