Abstract: Objective To study an effective therapy for hemodialytic patients with restless legs syn-drome. Methods 24 patients were divided into alprazolamum group(16) and trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride group(8). Symptom changes was evaluated with international restless legs scale, and sleep quality was compared between two groups. Results The morbidity of restless legs syndrome in hemodialytic patients was 19.2%. Bet-ter symptom improvement (7.2±2. 5 vs 16. 8±7.3), and better sleep quality (83.3% vs 25% , 100% vs 21.4%) were found in Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride group without severe adverse reaction on electrolyte and renal function. Conclusion Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride was more effective than alprazolamum for hemodia-lytic patients with restless legs syndrome.
