Abstract: Objective To investigate the success rate and safety of a new type of automatic negative pressure biopsy gun for elderly renal biopsy. Methods A total of 301 cases of elderly renal biopsy were performed with automatic negative pressure biopsy gun, involving 207 males and 94 females. 154 subjects aged between 60 and 65 years,83 between 66 and 70,46 between 71 and 75,17 between 76 and 80,and 1 above 80 years. The mean age was 66.3 years. Results There were 301 cases of renal biopsy, and the success rate was 97.3%. The average length of specimens was(14.4 ± 7.3)mm,and the average width of specimens was (0.99 ± 0.34) mm. The average number of glomeruli under light microscope was (18.7 ± 11.6). The incidences of the postoperative complications, the macroscopic hematuria and perirenal hematoma were 2.0%and 29.2%,respectively. No serious complications such as the need for blood transfusion and renal artery embolization occurred. Conclusion The automatic negative pressure biopsy gun for the elderly renal biopsy favors for simple operation, high success rate, and less complications.
