Abstract: Interleukin-27 (IL-27),a cytokine belonging to the IL-12 family, plays an important role in the regulation of different types of immunocytes. It is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of two subunits, namely the p28 and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-induced gene 3 (EBi3),and is produced by activated antigen-presenting cells. Its receptor is composed of WSX-1 and gp130.IL-27 can bind to its receptor, then activate the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) signaling pathway. With further insights into the role of IL-27 in the pathogenesis of psoriasis,IL-27 and its receptor may become new targets for the treatment of psoriasis.
