Abstract: K16, one of the major structural proteins of keratinocytes, plays an important role in maintaining cellular function and skin barrier function.K16 expression is highly dependent on cellular state and differentiation degree of keratinocytes.Differences exist in K16 expression levels among different types of epithelial cells. When K16 is abnormally expressed, skin barrier function is damaged to different extents at lesional sites, and is also affected in uninvolved skin.Aberrant expression of K16 not only affects skin permeability barrier function, but also causes inflammatory skin reactions and immune responses, resulting in further damage to the human body.
