Abstract: In recent years, dermoscopy has been widely used and studied in most countries in the world. Many newly-established algorithms for dermoscopy, including the ABCD rule, characteristic patterns for acral pigmented skin lesions and two-step algorithm, have improved the accuracy and systematicness of disease diagnosis and widened the application range of dermoscopy.Besides pigmented dermatoses, dermoscopy can be used for the diagnosis of non-pigmented skin diseases including Kaposi's sarcoma, eccrine poroma, xanthogranuloma, viral warts, scabies, lichen planus, psoriasis, and so on.This review presents recent progress in diagnostic algorithms for and clinical applications of dermoscopy.
