Abstract： Itch is an unpleasant cutaneous sensation which provokes the desire to scratch.AlthouIgh it is the paramount dermatologic symptom.its pathophysiology remains an enigma.This paper presents the nerve transduction.neurotransmitters and their receptors involved in pruritus,as well as the interaction between nerve fibers and mast cells in the Dathogenesis of pruritus.To leam the mechanism of pruritus will benefit further research into it and development of more effective and targeted treatment for it.
