Abstract: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a chronic malignancy caused by the proliferation of a single clone of plasma cells. Most of its manifestations are associated with the overexpression of abnormal immunoglobulin in blood and infiltrative destruction of bone. Cutaneous manifestations in MM are classified into specific and non-specific ones. Specific lesions include primary and secondary plasmocytoma of skin and mucosa, and non-specific lesions involve abnormal changes in skin due to the accumulation of abnormal proteins in dermoepidermal junction, cytopenia and internal organ damage. Skin lesions may be the first manifestation of MM in some cases. A familiarity with these manifestations will favor the full recognition and early diagnosis of MM.
