Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (Original Name: Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology ) established in 1953, aims to promote the development of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery as well as to strengthen international academic exchanges by reporting the leading achievements of clinical studies, experience in clinical diagnosis and treatment and results of experimental studies with practical impacts on clinical care in this field. The target readers of the journal include physicians and researchers working on otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery. This journal represents the highest level of the specialty in China. The journal follows the principle of “combining practice with theory and integrating popularization with progress” while emphasizing practice and progress, provides a better continuous medical training for doctors in China, and promotes development and pregression of the specialty. The major columns of the journal include Editorial, Experts Forum, Original Articles, Brief Reports, Review Articles, New Material and New Methods, Academic Discussion, Experience and Lesson, Continuing Medical Education and Case Reports, etc. In addition, some other columns are applied as the contents required in theme issues reflecting the latest advances in the specialty. In 2002 and 2004, the journal won the class 2 and 3 national awards for periodicals “One Hundred Core Science and Technological Journals”. From 2002 to 2007, the journal has been honored as one of the One Hundred Outstanding Academic Journals named by the China Science and Technology Information Institute. Currently the journal is one of the journals with highest impact and largest circulation. Since 2000, the journal has been publishing multimedia CD-ROM every year, which are sent to the full-year subsribers free of charge. The journal has been indexed and abstracted in dozens of biomedical periodical databases and medical abstracts both in China (such as China Science Abstracts) and overseas (the National Library of Medicine, Medline, Biological Abstract, AIDSLINE database, Russian Abstracts, and Toxline, etc.).
