Abstract: Objective To study the expressions of PCNA, Ki-67 and Mitosin/CENP-F and the relationship with biological features of human gliomas. Methods The Labeling Index (LI) of PCNA, Ki-67 and Mitosin/CENP-F proteins was detected by immunohistochemistry in 70 cases of human glioma of various pathological types and grades and 24 cases of non-tumor brain tissue samples. Results LI values of PCNA, Ki-67 and Mitosin/CENP-F in 70 cases of glioma were (44.02±29.37)%, (17.01±17.68)% and (36.80±27.23)%, respectively. In non-tumor brain tissue samples, the expression of Ki-67 was negative, and LI values of PCNA and Mitosin/CENP-F were (12.11±19.81)% and (9.06±8.27)%. There were statistically significant differences between glioma and non-tumor brain tissue samples (P<0.01). In addition, the correlation between the increasing grade and various histologic types and PCNA, Ki-67 and Mitosin/CENP-F LI values were statistically significant (P<0.05). However, no correlation was detected between the age and sex of the patiets and any one of three markers. Conclusion PCNA, Ki-67 and Mitosin/CENP-F, three tumor markers can be used to evaluate the tumor grade and to asses the malignancy in human gliomas.
