Abstract: Objective To study the multidisciplinary collaberation for surgical treatment of skull base tumors with intra and extra - cranial involvement.Methods 78 cases of skull base tumors with intra and extra - cranial involvementwere analyzed retrospectively.The relationship between surgical approaches and the origin and extension of the tumors was analyzed.The main complications and avoidance was discussed.Results Total tumor removal was performed in 48 cases,subtotal in 25 and partial in 5.The operation - related complications occurred in 36 patients without death. Conclusions Multidisciplinary collaboration benefits the surgical therapy for skull base tumor with intra and extra - cranial involvement.The origin and extension of the tumor is the most important consideration in determining the surgical approaches.The injury of blood vessel and cranial nerves,cerebrospinal fluid leakage and intracranial infection are the main operative complications.
