Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical features, surgical treatment strategies and complications of pituitary adenomas. Methods The clinical data of 1319 cases of pituitary adenomas were retrospective analyzed for evaluation of surgical treatment through unilateral endonasal transsphenoid approach, keyhole craniotomy and direct craniotomy. Results The incidence ratio of pituitary adenoma in male and female was 1∶1.34.The most common patient age was from 30 to 60 years old, accounting for 66.1%.There were 836 cases of invasive pituitary adenomas in this group(63.4% ).Multiple hormone cell adenomas (26.4%) and prolactin hormone cell adenomas (21.7%) were the most seen pathology types. The symptom relief rate after surgery was 95.6%,the cure rate was 89.3%,the recurrence rate was 7.6%,and the mortality rate was less than 0.2%.Conclusions The surgical treatment of pituitary adenomas can be used as the preferred solution, and the transsphenoid microsurgery is the most preferred operative approach.
