Neuroendoscopic treatment of intracranial arachnoid cysts

Abstract： Objective To investigate operative indication,techniques and effects of Intracranial arachnoid cysts treated with neuroendoscopic treatment. Methods There are 51 cases with neuroendoscopic treatment of intracranial arachnoid cysts from Jun. 2009 to Nov.2011. All the cases received neuroendoscopic partial cystectomy and communication between cystic cavity and brain cistern.Results 51 cases were symptom- free; CT or MRI scan of all cases showed marked diminution in cystic size,9 cases were almost disappeared,18 cases were reduced about 50％,10 cases were reduced about one - third.Conclusion Neuroendoscopy is a safe and effective method with minimal invasion in the treatment of intracranial arachnoid cyst.It should be first choice.
