Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the endovascular interventional minimally invasive techniques(IMIT)with stent-graft for treatment of the injury of carotid artery. Methods 11 cases with injury of carotid artery including four cases of ruptured carotid arteries with bleeding at the extracranial segment and seven cases of traumatic carotid-cavelTlOUS sinus fistula and/or formation of pseudoanearysm at the intracranial segment were studied. All cases were Confirmed by digital subtraction angiogrophy(DSA)and were treated by IMIT with stent-graft.The stent-graft was slipped after its placement and the fistulae was embolized with coils through venous approach in 1 case. Results The interventional treatments with stent-graft in ten cases and with GDC in one case were all successful and the clinical symptoms were all eliminated. There was no complication.During the follow-up period(1-14 months),there was no clinic reoccurrence. Conclusions Stent-graft placement is a minimally invasive, safe and effective method in the treatment of injury of carotid artery, especially for those who can not suffer from obstruction of ICA.
