Abstract: Objective To study and explore surgical strategy on pediatric deeply located giant brain tumors. Method 50 cases of pediatric deeply located giant brain tumors were treated surgically with combined approaches in different sittings. Results All cases, consisting of 40 cases of craniopharyngiomas, 5 of astrocytomas, 2 of terotomas, 2 of immature terotomas, 1 of meningiomas, achieved total removal in the end. There were no mortality and post-operative coma in this study. Following -up with a maximnm of 5 years showed no recurrence. Conclusions Trying to totally remove pediatric deeply located giant brain tumors with one operation is difficult and usually dangerous. By combined approaches in different sittings, they can achieve satisfactory results.
