Abstract: Objective To observe the security and effectiveness of dural defect repair by two kinds of surgical patch with different biotypes( artificial dural with suture and suture-free) and autologous subgaleal. Methods We divided the 80 patients into suture( artificial dural with suture,32 cases),suture-free (artificial dural with suture-free,28cases) and autologous subgaleal(20 cases). The differences of three groups regarding operation time, fever after surgery, drainage of the fluid, cerebrospinal fluid leakage and subcutaneous fluid, epilepsy were compared. Results The group of artificial dural with suture and autologous subgaleal had longer operation time ( P <0.05 ) ; the group of artificial dural with suture-free had more drainage of the fluid( P < 0.05) ; there was no significant difference in fever after surgery(P > 0.05 ) ;the group of artificial dural with suture-free had more subcutaneous fluid and cerebrospinal fluid leakage after surgery ( P > 0.05 ) ; all groups have less incidence in epilepsy. Conclusions Two kinds of surgical patch with different biotypes and autologous subgaleal have the same security and effectiveness.Autologous subgaleal has limited obtainment and sometimes can be difficult.Artificial dural with suture-free can reduce the operation time and it is a perfect materials for the parts with difficult to suture.Surgical patch of biotype with tight suture has more advantages.
