Abstract: Objective To summarize and analyze the efficiency of terlipressin in treating cirrhosis patients with refractory ascites.Methods The data of 25 cirrhosis patients with refractory ascites treated between Aug 2010 and Apr 2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Results Twenty-three patients had significant decrease in ascites volume.2 patients had no response to Terlipressin; the efficient rate was 92%.The mean urine excretion increased from mean 2150 ml/d before treatment to mean 916.7 ml/d after treatment.The arterial pressure increased from mean 75.5 mm Hg to mean 84 mm Hg.4 patients underwent transient abdominal cramps after the first injection of Terlipressin.There was 1 case of hypertension and the patient recovered when injection ceased.Conclusion Terlipressin is safe and efficient in treating cirrhosis patients with refractory ascites.
