Abstract: Objective To explore different doses of simvastatin treating cerebral infarction. Methods Totally 292 patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into three groups:group A (conventional treatment,100 cases as control group),group B (20 mg/D simvastatin,n =98) and group C (40 mg/D simvastatin,n =94).Lipids,nerve function and C-reactive protein (CRP) were compared before and after treatment. Results In group A,blood lipid and CRP level before and after treatment had no changes. In group B and C group after treatment, the total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein and CRP level were significantly reduced (P <0.05 ).In group C,High-density lipoprotein (HDL) level was distinctly increased after treatment ( P < 0.05 ) ;meanwhile, the difference of HDL level between group C after treatment and group B after treatment also had statistical significance [ ( 1.45 ± 0.25 ) mmol/L vs ( 1.19 ± 0.27 ) mmol/L,P < 0.05 ].The neural function defect scale was improved in all groups after treatment (P < 0.01 ),but the difference of improvement among all groups did not show statistical significance ( P > 0.01 ).Conclusion Simvastatin has a definite lipid-lowering curative effect in treatment of acute cerebral infarction and can improve neural function defect scale.
