Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of cortisol on the migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC).Methods The viability of the cells was determined by using cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8).Transwell_boydom system was used to test the migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cell induced by cortisol.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) method was used to determine the effect of cortisol on the expression ofBasic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) and stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF1).The expression of HIFlα was analyzed with Western blotting. Results It showed that cortisol itself had no significant inhibition on cell viability of HUVEC but significantly inhibited HUVEC migration and decreased the expression of bFGF and SDF1.There were no differences of expression ofHypoxia-inducible factor ( HIF1 α ) between control and cortisol groups. Conclusion Cortisol can decrease the expression of bFGF and SDF1 in HUVEC and inhibit the migration of HUVEC.
