Vinpocetine injection for the treatment of poststroke dementia

Abstract： Objective To investigate the influence of vinpocetine injection on incidence of poststroke dementia(PSD)and cognitive impairment.Methods One hundred and thirty.six patients with acute ischemic stroke were randomly divided into two groups:treatment group treated with vinpocetine injection for21 days and the control group treated with edaravone injecfion.The incidence of dementia and mini Mental State Examination(MMSE)scale were assessed after 12 weeks.Results The incidence rate of PSD in treatment group was significanfly lower compared to the control group[2.9%(2/68)VS 14.7%(10/68),X2=5.85,P<0.05].MMSE scale of treatment group WaS higher compared to the control group[(25.47±2.27)VS(21.22±2.00),t=11.64,P<0.05)].Condusion VinpocetiHe injection is effective for the treatment of poststroke dementia.
