Abstract： Objective To study the efficacy of ovulation induction in non-obese polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients who receive Guizhifuling capsule. Methods Forty-one non-obese PCOS patients were conducted in the study. 17 patients in control group received only clomiphene citrate(CC) with a dose of 50 mg from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle till the 9th day for a total of 5 days for 3 menstrual cycles. 24 patients in test group received 0.93 g three times a day of Guizhifuling capsule continuously from the first cycle for 3 months. Follicular growth was monitored by transvaginal ultrasound and plasma hormone concentrations were measured. The ovulation and pregnancy rates were evaluated in each group. Results After CC treatment in control group, the plasma hormon concentration did not show a significant reduction compared with that before treatment ( P ＞ 0.05 ); in test group, the plasma concentrations of testosterone show a significant reduction after treatment( P ＜0.05 ); the ovulation and pregnancy rates after treatment were significantly higher in test group that those in control group (P ＜0. 05). Conclusions Guizhifuling capsule can improve elevated androgen levels in PCOS patients. The ovulation and pregnancy rates are significantly improved with the use of Guizhifuling capsule combined with CC.
